- Caption: Hellen Chemtai, One of Kenya’s most versatile women athletes. She played hockey, sprints and the long-jump and triple-jump-all at national level. She captained the national women’s hockey team from 1991 to 1998, starting from Junior to senior level. She was the national women’s sprint champion in the 100 and 200 metres between 2000 and 2003. Chemtai also runs the 400 metres. Her personal best times of 11.05 seconds in 100m, 23.08 seconds in 200m, 53.03 seconds in 400m, 6m long jump and 12.32m in triple jump.
